learning something new

I have been interested in knowing how to set the timer on my camera probably since I have had it and I finally taught myself the super simple process. It took me less than 10 minutes of basically unhelpful google searches until one thing sparked a hint and I got it. That picture of Sage and I was the first product of my new something.

I'm pretty excited about the mandolin Kaya got for Christmas from my mom.  I am not at all a musician, not even close,  not even a big music enthusiast I usually prefer silence but I do enjoy some good ole' folk music when I'm in the mood for some sound. This has been super fun to strum a tune on, hopefully I can really learn a thing or two.

As for this new something I learned about my camera, I am excited to use it to take my own family pics as well as to style some great shots with my creations in cloth and jewels.  I am looking forward to preparing backdrops and such that create a mood, a vibe. I know how much I enjoy seeing those inspiring photographs from other grassroots designers. We'll see how it goes...

And some new words I happened upon here titled "See the Woman"

She has a young face
An old face
She carries herself well
In all ages
She survives all man has done

In some tribes she is free
In some religions
She is under man
In some societies
She’s worth what she consumes

In some nations
She is delicate strength
In some states
She is told she is weak
In some classes
She is property owned

In all instances
She is sister to earth
In all conditions
She is life bringer
In all life she is our necessity

See the woman eyes
Flowers swaying
On scattered hills
Sundancing calling in the bees

See the woman heart
Lavender butterflies
Fronting blue sky
Misty rain falling
On soft wild roses

See the woman beauty
Lightning streaking
Dark summer nights
Forests of pines mating
With new winter snow

See the woman spirit
Daily serving courage
With laughter
Her breath a dream
And a prayer

Here's to learning and doing new things in the new year.
