recycled copper bracelets
February has yet to begin but it's felt like Spring around here for the last week and it is lovely. These bracelets are perfect to welcome the warmer, brighter days. I have been inspired to make these for sometime it feels real good to get around to it. I like them and I like making them. It takes some time to hammer, shape and finish the copper to its smooth, shiny, sealed reveal but it's becoming a sort of meditation for me. I sit in silence with my tools and practice repetition. They are certainly made with love like most I do. I think my personal favorites would be the bangle cuffs because they are so minimal and simple. That's just where I seem to be right now. I also favor the amethyst rock 1"cuff for its raw, natural beauty. They are each special. I made them from recycled copper that I salvaged from the scrap of local builders. All of these are now available online here.

peg + awl
all pictures taken from their site
This desk caddy from P+A has me inspired to use up some of those thicker pieces of waste wood we have piling up somewhere. Between our projects at home and my hubby's wood shop I'm sure there is many many beautiful pieces that are too small to be much else than firewood, till now. Wood scraps, a few power tools, a nice sand and clear coat and I should have a couple of these to tidy up my work tables in my tiny studio. Peg + Awl has so many beautiful, rustic, primitive inspirations and I love their look. Check 'em out...

bayouboho.com
I made some fresh changes to my website. Find it at www.bayouboho.com or click on the website link in the side bar. I tell ya this beautiful Spring like weather has me inspired and motivated to get some things done. I like how it's all coming together.
I also ordered some new cards and postcards to help spread the word about bayouboho.com
postcard front (above) + back (below)
I ordered from overnightprints.com and I have to say how I am impressed (yet again) by their price and quality. I paid less than $45 for 500 cards and 100 double-sided postcards plus priority shipping. Yay!!

our farmhouse table
Finally my hubby made the time to make our table. It's rustic like I like. He ventured from his usual fine tuned, perfected process just for me. You can find a little more about it here.

the adorned nook
Beautiful days at home in my studio. The weather has been quite dreamy the last few days.
I have styled a sweet little photo booth nook in my studio (also known 'round here as the Dollhouse). I draped many cream and white handmade afghans to create this warm and cozy space. I also hung some of my dreamcatchers and used vintage lace, my favorite baskets and my new turkish cushion to help enhance the mood. My sweet Kaya brought me a white Camellia from the yard and it goes perfectly, I think it's safe to say she has a pretty great eye already.
I have taken some pictures of a few new necklaces I have made and a few new vintage pieces. I love turquoise, crystals and chunky power rocks. I am excited about my new bracelet collection for early Spring, perfect for when we again expose our arms to the warmth of the sunlight. All made from recycled copper and all made by hand. I have applied a wax coating to these to avoid tarnish.
Vintage dresses and more to follow...

land
Two of my greatest friends are proud owners of their own piece of heaven. Raw land. To do with what their dreams determine. Lets just say it hasn't all been easy but they are in fact making their dreams come true. My heart smiles with the idea of it all.
They are left with a very limited budget to build their alternative living space and I am excited to see them do great things. Recycling and using what is available to conquer the American Dream in the most unconventional ways. Pulling together resources where they can. Putting supplies to good use that may otherwise just be waisted or thrown away. I think we will be amazed yet again by the beauty one can accomplish using what we have where we can.
Stay tuned for updates along the way as they get to work on building their truly handmade dwelling.

lately.
I have been working on a collection of bracelets like these recycled copper bangles. So easy to just pile 'em on. Hand hammered for shape and texture.
We are always doing small projects around our home. Some lasting years are getting closer to completion and others only in the dream faze poking at my anxious nature to see it come together already. I am trying to embrace the process though I am a finished product kinda gal.
I hope these first few weeks in the new year are treating you well and finding you smiling in great company.

down to the levee
Earlier this week my Mom, Sage and I took a little trip down to the Atchafalaya Basin Levee. Mom has a dream, she is quite the dreamer. She calls it aluminum world and sings it to the tune of Madonna's material girl.

learning something new
I have been interested in knowing how to set the timer on my camera probably since I have had it and I finally taught myself the super simple process. It took me less than 10 minutes of basically unhelpful google searches until one thing sparked a hint and I got it. That picture of Sage and I was the first product of my new something.
I'm pretty excited about the mandolin Kaya got for Christmas from my mom. I am not at all a musician, not even close, not even a big music enthusiast I usually prefer silence but I do enjoy some good ole' folk music when I'm in the mood for some sound. This has been super fun to strum a tune on, hopefully I can really learn a thing or two.
As for this new something I learned about my camera, I am excited to use it to take my own family pics as well as to style some great shots with my creations in cloth and jewels. I am looking forward to preparing backdrops and such that create a mood, a vibe. I know how much I enjoy seeing those inspiring photographs from other grassroots designers. We'll see how it goes...
And some new words I happened upon here titled "See the Woman"
She has a young face
An old face
She carries herself well
In all ages
She survives all man has done
In some tribes she is free
In some religions
She is under man
In some societies
She’s worth what she consumes
In some nations
She is delicate strength
In some states
She is told she is weak
In some classes
She is property owned
In all instances
She is sister to earth
In all conditions
She is life bringer
In all life she is our necessity
See the woman eyes
Flowers swaying
On scattered hills
Sundancing calling in the bees
See the woman heart
Lavender butterflies
Fronting blue sky
Misty rain falling
On soft wild roses
See the woman beauty
Lightning streaking
Dark summer nights
Forests of pines mating
With new winter snow
See the woman spirit
Daily serving courage
With laughter
Her breath a dream
And a prayer
Here's to learning and doing new things in the new year.
